Positive Feedback/Back to the Workhouse

How do?

The lecturer from the uni emailed me today with positive feedback no less after she had discussed the session I helped with 2 weeks ago. She wants to talk to me about it again next week and has also mentioned about the possibility of me doing it again in the future. I am glad that I did it now and that I have been able to do something positive from my experience.

One of the things I have managed to do in the last few years is research my family tree. I was rather shocked to find in the 1841 census that some of my descendants spent time in the Hardingstone Union Workhouse

If James Purnell gets his way with what is being implemented in the third reading of the welfare reform bill I may well not be the last person of my family and many other unfortunate souls in this country to experience the workhouse.

Let's not forget James Purnell is trying to implement this in a recession, he had obviously not planned for a recession and the virtual meltdown of the worlds banking system but just carries on regardless despite the effect it may well have on peoples lives.

read about it on the excellent happymarx website

see ya

Do you know when Thatcher came to power we went through the same things, she made the JSA changes, people were saying look it will make life hard difficult blah blah blah.

The welfare reforms state I must do something for my benefits, that can be updating your CV, helping out at a school which I do already, helping out neigbours which I do already, helping out at a class room teaching others about computers which I do already.

I also want to work doing something not for the money so much but to get my life back, to talk to people to get back into the groove if you like. But I cannot for the life of me find a job, nine years of looking using the Shaw trust what a load of rubbish they are, then Remploy another group that should pack up and go, not the factories the idiots who say they can find you a job, and the job center, who have told me to come back in July, the fact is employers do not want to employ us, so what will change will I get lower benefits well that was always going to happen.

I bet in five years time I will still be unemployed still be on benefits still fighting to find work, Gordon Brown will have gone down as the worse leader in all time, Purnell will be the new leader begging Labour people to vote him into power as he wants to show us he is a real socialist and guess what I will sit at home thinking what a Twat. sorry for swearing.

I was talking about the workhouses just last night in the context of what my retirement will be like!
